Cole Sprout 2nd Place Boys Sweepstakes Race - Desert Twilight Festival 2019
Published by
Valor Christian CO senior Cole Sprout placed second in the 5-kilometer boys sweepstakes race in 14:16.01 at the 13th Desert Twilight Festival at Grande World Sports Complex in Casa Grande, Ariz. Sprout, who ran 14:32.92 to win the race last year, lowered his all-time Colorado 5-kilometer record and ran the No. 2 time in meet and course history, trailing only the winning effort of 14:14.26 achieved by Highland AZ senior Leo Daschbach. Only the 14:14.10 performance produced by Rockford legend Dathan Ritzenhein at the 2000 Michigan Division 1 state championships is a faster high school 5-kilometer effort in history than Daschbach and Sprout.
