The women's cross country program at Shawnee State, with 119 points and nine first-place votes, was picked to win the Mid-South Conference Championship in Friday's Mid-South Conference Cross Country Preseason Poll releases. The women are seeking their 11th consecutive title since joining the Mid-South Conference in 2010.

SSU, however, did not grab their first-place standing with ease as Cumberlands (Ky.), who was picked second in the poll, finished just nine points behind the Bears' total. The Patriots collected 110 points to go along with the remaining trio of first-place votes.
