[Cross Country] Bears Race at the NAIA Great Lakes ChallengePublished by
This past weekend, the women's and men's cross country teams travelled to Michigan to race in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge hosted by Aquinas College. The teams competed against several nationally ranked NAIA teams. The women's team raced in the White division of the 5k race. Leading the way for the Bears was Jozi Brown (SR/McConnelsville, Ohio). Brown started the Bears off strong with a top 5 finish, running the 5k-course in a time of 19:30.10. She finished fifth out of 226 runners. Following Brown, Mikella Meddock (SO/Ashville, Ohio) (20:01.4, 23rd), Elizabeth Middleton (21:09.7, 76th), Sarah Letchford (SO) (21:49.9, 112th ), and Deanna Hall (JR/Proctorville, Ohio) (21:50.7, 113th) wrapped up the Bears' top five finishers. Shari Ritchey ( 22:41.7, 147th) and Paige Abbinante (FR) (22:45.4, 148th) rounded it out for the women's team. Overall, the team finished 12th out of 26 teams.
